The University will retire the Chorus telephone system on 31 July 2026 and complete the transition of telephony services to Microsoft Teams Phone.
Under the new service, telephone numbers will be linked to individual Oxford SSO accounts rather than physical desk phones. This will allow staff to make and receive calls through Microsoft Teams on their computer, smartphone, or tablet, whether they are working in the office, from home, or elsewhere.
As part of this change, College room telephone handsets will be withdrawn. Telephone numbers will be retained only where there is a clear operational requirement to make or receive external calls. This approach reduces reliance on fixed telephony infrastructure while ensuring that essential services continue to have access to telephone facilities where needed.

The Calls tab on the Teams smartphone app is “hidden” under the “… More” (bottom right) but you can re-order the icons to bring Calls to the main page. See screenshots below.
