ISSUE

We have received reports of two instances with Admissions candidates who could not enable their video cameras during their interviews.

Both instances were using the MS Teams client as a GUEST and they got a message stating that the camera is “disabled by administrator“.

RESOLUTION

This seems to be a known issue reported to and confirmed by Microsoft (almost “by design”). If anonymous user (someone invited to the meeting via email) bypasses the lobby and starts the meeting, meeting policies cannot be applied – Teams client on guest’s end doesn’t know if video is allowed or not.

Workarounds:

  • create meetings disallowing guests to bypass the lobby or
  • ask guests to leave and re-join the meeting.
